Can’t I just ask my contractor their opinion on my flooring, lighting, etc?
Technically yes, but not if you want to ensure your home is designed as a true reflection of you. I love working with contractors – they are excellent at building a home. However, in my experience, most contractors are not as concerned with the ‘what’ is going in your new home as much as the ‘how’ they are going to put it in. An interior designer will get to know you, your family, your needs & wants and how you live. We will be there to coordinate the flooring to the cabinets and the backsplash, the lighting to the hardware and the plumbing fixtures. We will understand the vision & feel you want in your home and take the time to visit showrooms with you or gather samples for a full presentation. Bringing in a designer at the beginning of your project, helps ensure the layout of your new home or remodel not only looks beautiful, but functions for your needs as well.
What is the biggest benefit of working with Sunrise Design?
We are here to help relieve you of the overwhelm and stress that comes with building or remodeling your home. At Sunrise Design, we take the time to listen and understand our client’s desires for their home and will walk you through selecting finishes and layouts that will meet the desired results. We will show you how your home will come together through 3D renderings, product samples and concept boards. We prevent headaches and having to resort to the “eeny-meeny-miny-mo” option. With the big decisions all out of the way, you can relax and enjoy the building process of your new home or remodel.
When should I hire an Interior Designer?
While you can hire an interior designer at any point in the process, it is generally best to have one on your side and working as your advocate as early as possible, especially if your project involves construction. An interior designer can review plan sets and make sure there is enough usable space to meet your goals. We will work with you to source and specify all materials and finishes, allowing your contractor to get accurate bids to manage your budget. We can also create 3D renderings for you to see your space before any work begins, creating fewer change orders after construction has started.
How involved are we in the design process?
As much or as little as you would like and feel comfortable with, but my most successful designs have been ones that were collaborative with my client. A design is elevated when all parties are involved and excited by the possibilities of the creative process!
